Where to Find Coal in Palworld: Best Mining Locations & Coordinates

In the early game of Palworld, wood and stone are all you need. But once you hit level 30 and want to craft Refined Ingots for your Ultra Spheres and Assault Rifles, you will hit a bottleneck: Coal.

Coal cannot be produced in a Crusher like stone or wood. You have to mine it from specific black nodes in the world. To save you time wandering the map, we’ve pinpointed the best locations to set up a dedicated mining base.

1. The Verdant Brook Desert (Best Overall)

• Coordinates: 190, -40
• Why it’s great: This is widely considered the best coal farming spot in the game. It is located on top of a mountain peak in the Verdant Brook area.
• Nodes: You will find roughly 6–8 Coal nodes clustered tightly together. The area is flat enough to drop a Palbox, making it the perfect spot for an automated base.

2. Twilight Dunes

• Coordinates: -160, -90 (Near the Anubis boss)
• Why it’s great: The desert biome is rich in coal, but it’s dangerous. You will need Heat Resistant Armor to survive the day.
• Nodes: There are multiple clusters of coal here, but be careful—aggressive Pals roam this area often. It’s better for a quick manual mining trip than an AFK base unless you have strong defense Pals.

3. Sealed Realm of the Guardian

• Coordinates: 190, -38
• Why it’s great: Just southeast of the fast travel point, there is a high ledge containing both Coal and Ore nodes.
• Nodes: roughly 5 Coal nodes and several Ore nodes. This is a "dual-purpose" spot, allowing you to farm the two most important mid-game resources simultaneously.

How to Automate Coal Farming

You don't want to mine this manually forever. To set up an automated farm:

1. Build a Palbox at one of the coordinates above.
2. Deploy Pals with Mining Level 2 or higher (Digtoise is the community favorite, but Reptyro and Menasting are also excellent).
3. Build a wooden chest near the nodes and a Feed Box to keep them working.
4. Ensure you adjust your server settings if you find the drop rates too low.
